Today, we think we’ll list the best international children’s films of 2019, many of which have already been released, with a few still awaiting release. All of these movies offer experiences for children, but many of them are also suitable for adult tastes. The screen also returns a remake of many classics that today’s adults remember from their own childhood and thus have a special place in their hearts.

The year 2019 has offered and will offer many high-quality films for children, and many of these international stories are also on the wish list of Finnish children. And maybe even the parents – such great and touching movies will be on offer this year as well. Frozen – and the Toy Story movies sequels include the absolute highlights of the year along with  The Lion King, Aladdin and Dumbo with the latest versions . One of the most anticipated films for both children and adults is certainly the final installment of the Star Wars film series to be released in December.

In addition to providing entertainment and enriching cultural experiences for the little ones in the family, Children’s films help to develop a child’s imagination. Through them, the child learns to understand new emotions, which helps him to express his own feelings. In addition, Children’s films strengthen ties between family members, increase caring in close relationships, and improve the atmosphere in the home in general. So children’s films are more than harmless entertainment or pastimes – they benefit a child’s development as long as the right kind, high-quality films are chosen for viewing.

The million-euro first installment of the film series , Lego Film, was released in February 2014, winning numerous international awards. Five years later, in February of this year, familiar characters made a return to the big screen in a Lego 2 movie . This time the heroes of the story are threatened by a bunch of intruders from outer space – dare you guess how the story will go?

This is how you train your dragon 3

How to Train Your Dragon 3  is a 3D computer animation film that premiered in January. The film is a sequel to the 2014 How to Train Your Dragon 2 and the last part of the How to Train Your Dragon film series.

In the last part of the trilogy, Hikotus searches for the hidden world of dragons, and the sound roles in the Finnish version include many well-known Finnish Actors, such as Hannu-Pekka Björkman in the role of Rage.

Captain Marvel

Marvel’s superheroes made their return on March 21, when the 21st Marvel film, Captain Marvel , was released . This time, the film’s plot wraps around the U.S. Air Force pilot Coral Danvers. He becomes Captain Marvel as the Earth drifts in the midst of conflicts between two alien races.

Park of Wonders

The Park of Miracles , released in March, is a Spanish-American animated film. It tells the story of a little girl who, while exploring the woods, finds the entrance to a hidden amusement park. The amusement park is full of talking funny animals.

Dumbo

One of Disney’s most beloved classics, Dumbo,  made a return to the big screen in the March version. The film is directed by Tim Burton, so we’re sure both kids and adults will enjoy this delicate story. This time, the film also takes a stand on a problem that people have woken up to in recent years, namely the use of animals and abuse in circuses.

Aladdin

Another remake of the Disney classic is Aladdin . In this version, the plot of the film is mixed with the plot of the original film, released in 1992, as well as other  Thousand and One Nights  stories. The new  Aladdin film is a guaranteed hit with the help of Will Smith’s acting performance. Smith will be seen as one of the most ingenious characters in the story as he interprets the role of the Spirit.

Aladdin, Jasmin, Jafar, Spirit, Jago Parrot and Abu Monkey arrived at the movie theaters on May 24th. Before you head out with your family to watch a new version of the movie, we recommend watching the original movie.

Top gang in the Himalayas

High in the Himalayas The gang is so animated movie made called stop-motion technique, which appeared in April as an international version of The Missing Link name. The protagonist of the film, explorer and adventurer Sir Lionel Frost, travels far and wide to prove the existence of a mythical bigfoot.

UglyDolls

Computer animation UglyDolls premiered in English in May. The film is about the encounter and contradictions of two very different worlds. As the creatures living in Uglyville leave for the world and arrive in a city called Perfection, great challenges lie ahead.

For the first time in their lives, puppets from Uglyville have to experience tough ones because they are different. On the other hand, they get to learn that there is no need to be perfect – only it really has the value of what you really are.

Pokemon Detective Pikachu

In May, the Pokémon Detective Pikachu film, which depicts a world where humans and Pokémon live harmoniously together, premiered. Pikachu joins forces with young Tim to find his father, a famous detective who has mysteriously disappeared. As they continue their search, the duo finds out a plot that can jeopardize harmonious coexistence.

The Secret Life of Pets 2

Animal-loving kids are especially excited about this movie, which features many lovely animal characters. The first part of the film series The Secret Life of Pets was released in 2016, with great success.

The first part focused on what pets do when their owners are away from home, while the 2019 film focuses on a different aspect of a pet’s life – namely, as unpleasant a thing as going to the vet.

Toy Story 4

On July 19, 24 years after the release of the original Toy Story , Woody, Buzz and partners returned to the cinemas for the last time in Toy Story 4 .

In the film, the toys have a new owner, Bonnie, and a series of coincidences bring Woody together with a character this one has fallen in love with in the past. Book a handkerchief pack with you as Woody and Buzz voice actors have said the film is a very emotional ending to the Toy Story saga.

The Lion King

As you may have already noticed, 2019 is the year of remakes of Disney classics. In June, one of the most anticipated films of the year was released when  The Lion King was released .

Simba, Mufasa and other animals are here again to delight us, performing familiar songs and melodies from the 1994 original film. This emotional and nostalgic film brings many memories to many children of the 1990s.

Adventurer Dora

Adventurer Dora is one of the most popular children’s programs of the 21st century, and now Dora is also moving to the big screen as a so-called live action version. In the film, which will be released on September 20, Dora and her friends solve the mystery of the golden city of the Incas.

Angry Birds Movie 2

This sequel to the popular video game Angry Birds , released in 2016, will be released on August 16th. This is a Finnish-American production, so Angry Birds movie 2 is especially interesting for us Finns to watch!

Playmobil movie

The animated film, which premieres on November 22, tells the story of cars from the classic Playmobil toy brand. It tells the story of Marla, a young girl who gets to travel to the magical world of Playmobil in search of her brother Charliet. On the way, according to Marla, many heroic new friends join.

Frozen 2

At the end of this year, November 19, Elsa, Anna and Olaf with their adventures will return to the big screen. Awarded the Best Animated Film and Best Original Song, the Oscar-winning Frozen Queen is one of Disney’s most popular films of all time.

The kids are definitely looking forward to finding out what will happen in the sequel to the film. Disney hasn’t told very much about the production, but it’s nonetheless known that the main characters in the story leave far from Arendale, ending up deep in the woods. Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and other old acquaintances are also joined by new characters.

This is also the first time a sequel to a Disney princess movie has been shown in movie theaters, as the sequels have previously appeared directly as a VHS or DVD release. We are sure that Frozen 2  will be worth all the glow.

A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon

Late Sheep arrives on the big screen for the second time with A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon . This stop-motion sci-fi comedy is a sequel to the 2015 Shaun the Sheep Movie .

It tells the story of a space alien with superpowers who ends up making a forced landing near Mossy Bottom farm. Late decides to seize the opportunity and explore the space alien, and the sheep and its friends attempt to send the visitor home before it ends up imprisoned in the hands of an evil organization.

Star Wars: Episode IX

We conclude our list of the best children’s films of 2019 with perhaps the most anticipated story. This is the third sequel to the well- known Star Wars movie series and the ninth and final part of the Skywalker saga. Also starring Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker , it entertains not only children but also adults. For many of today’s adults, the first Star Wars movies were an important part of childhood and youth.

The film will premiere in Finland on December 18.
